The People Who Needs A Home Safe
There's a common misconception that a home safe only protects against theft, and therefore, you only need one if you keep a lot of cash in the home, if you own a gun, or if you have any other valuables that you'd like to store away from intruders. The truth of the matter is that theft is really only one small fraction of what a safe can help protect valuables from.
Let's say, for instance, you own some old comic books. Perhaps not even the rarest or most valuable, but comic books that you've kept from childhood and have some real sentimental value to you. A thief might not know enough about comic books and collector's markets to bother stealing your collection, but a house fire wouldn't care one way or another. A hurricane, a tornado, an earthquake, anything that can damage your home can also damage your possessions, and a home safe is there to protect them, not just from thieves, but from danger in general.
Or perhaps you have young children in the home. Fragile family heirlooms are probably not best left out in the open if you have a five year old running around the house. A combination locked safe can be a big help in protecting your possessions not just from thieves and natural disasters, but from the whirlwind that is a hyperactive toddler, as well. Children are naturally curious and rarely as capable of lifting heavy, fragile objects as they seem to think when they first try grabbing at them.

Furthermore, they can protect your children from your possessions. A gun owner, for instance, would have to be crazy not to own a home safe to store their weapon in, whether or not they have any children. Someone who owns an antique vase would similarly be wise to store it in the safe not only for the vase's sake, but for the sake of any child who might break the object and cut themselves on it. A home safe has a lot of uses, and its status as a deposit for jewelry, gold, diamond and cash is only one small aspect of what it is. |
